3. Support inter cultural dialogue and promote the dealing with cultural themes

With young people from England, France, Germany, Israel, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Belarus and Tunisia the International Youth Media Camp was as inter cultural as never before. To support dialogue and interaction the different media workshop groups were –of course- mixed with people from different countries, but there were also lots of other events to support inter cultural learning:

For example in the beginning the participants of each country presented their nation and culture in a creative and medial way – the boys and girls from Tunisia showed a traditional dance, the people from the Netherlands and from Norway presented a short film about the Dutch/Norway’s way of living, of Belarus’ wedding dance was showed etc. etc. So the participants could get an impression of the other nations and cultures. The program was also an important element to support the boy’s and girl’s contact with each other – for example a biking tour, common sport events, barbecue, a “bad taste” – Party…

In their media workshops the boys and girls were confronted with inter cultural themes: they engaged for topics like:
  • Communication on the background of arts and media.
  • Problems of racism and discrimination.
  • Youth and Europe.
  • Institutions of Youth Media Work in comparison.
